The Westfjords Way

The Westfjords Way is a challenging 925 km route through one of Iceland’s most remote regions, with 40% unpaved roads, steep climbs, and over 15,000 meters of elevation gain. We will face unpredictable weather, including 80 km/h winds and sudden temperature shifts, along with long stretches without services, requiring full self-sufficiency. Daily distances range from 60-120 km, making this a true test of endurance and preparation.

Hand Built For
The Journey

Every great adventure starts with the right tools, and for this ride, that means bikes built from the ground up. Matt Braun, one of our riders and an experienced custom frame builder, is crafting two purpose-built bikes designed for both long-distance road riding and rugged bikepacking.

These frames will feature fillet brazed steel construction, adjustable geometry for varied terrain, and fully integrated frame bag mounts for optimal gear storage. Equipped with a 1x13 Campagnolo drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and versatile tire compatibility (700x35C - 650B x 2.1”), these bikes are built for efficiency, durability, and performance across Iceland’s demanding landscapes. To top it off, each bike will receive a custom paint job, making them as unique as the journey itself.
